Volvo Now Begins Production in South Carolina

The 2019 Volvo S60 makes history as the first of Volvo’s cars to be mass produced in the United States. Set to go on sale in late 2018, this mid-size sedan is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Volvo’s manufacturing site in Ridgeville, SC is also the first production center from the automaker in America.

This 2.3-million square foot South Carolina manufacturing site is set to produce the next-generation XC90 SUV in 2021 as well, bringing the site’s annual vehicle production rate up to 150,000 models.

Volvo also has other production centers in Europe, China, India, and Malaysia—making this automaker a true global force.

“We’re proud to launch Volvo’s first American-made car. Our team is dedicated to delivering the exceptional craftsmanship, Scandinavian design and dynamic feel that defines the Volvo brand,” states Jeff Moore of Volvo.
